Feeding Step

The feeding step is a composite platform for cows, which is installed along the feed barrier, paired with dividers every two spaces. The aim of this product is to minimise disruption during feeding and reduce the surface area of flooring, which is emitting ammonia, an air pollutant.

  • Made from plastic blocks and 10mm double layered rubber
  • Works in conjunction with dividers positioned every two spaces
  • The feeding step is positioned the length of the feed barrier
  • As the scraper passes the cows can continue to feed
  • The step is moulded to allow drainage of liquids onto the passage and as a result remains dry.

Description

Feeding Step allows stressless feed intake without competition between animals

The feeding step is made up of plastic blocks which fit together to form the bottom layer of the platform, providing enough strength to support the cow. A 10mm double layer, non-slip rubber to provide support and steadiness.

This brings multiple benefits to the cow, including reduction of disruptions. For instance, the platform does not need regular scraping as it behaves much like a cubicle bed, keeping the cows back side close to the passage. This allows for the cleaning of the shed to now not disturb the cows feeding, allowing them to increase feed in-take and lower stress levels.

This product also produces an environmental advantage as it reduces the surface area emitting ammonia. The same as in a cubicle, the cow cannot get her backside onto the feeding step, meaning she cannot urinate or dung on the step.

Benefits

Explore the unique advantages our products provide.

Less disruption to cows feeding when using automatic scrapers as the feeding step lifts the cow above the floor height and because of the barriers, the feeding step itself stays clean and should not need scraped.
The feeding step helps to reduce the amount of bullying happening at the feed barrier, this is due to the steel barriers which are placed every second headlock.
Any liquids that do get on the step are quickly drained due to the 3% slope. This reduces the liquid lying on the feeding step which therefore leads to a harder healthier hoof.
Easy and quick to install in new and existing sheds.
